Pick your role to see which tools matter and what to be careful about.
Buyers
Use Zillow for search, alerts, price and tax history and neighborhood context. Read the Zestimate as a rough anchor and ask an agent for comparable sales before bidding. Compare lender quotes instead of defaulting to the one in the app.
Sellers
Claim your home and correct the facts (beds, baths, square footage, upgrades), since those feed the estimate. Do not price from the Zestimate alone; get a comparative market analysis from a licensed agent or an appraisal.
Renters
Zillow Rentals is a widely used rental search tool. Treat listings with caution: confirm the listing is real before paying any deposit, never wire money to someone you have not met, and read the lease. See the scam checklist.
Landlords
A free basic listing, free screening and free rent collection make it a low-cost way to reach renters. Compare the paid Premium listing against how fast your unit fills, and check whether property-manager rules apply to you.
Agents

Who can skip it
If you only need an official sold price, use your county records. If you want an independent appraisal, hire a licensed appraiser. If you want an agent’s opinion on pricing, ask one for comparable sales in your own neighborhood.
